Kwon Soon-woo, a come-from-behind victory against Carreño Busta, ranked 15th in the world… Advance to the quarterfinals

Korean men’s tennis Kwon Soon-woo (84th, Dangjin City Hall) defeated Pablo Carreño Busta (Spain), who is ranked 15th in the world.

Soon-Woo Kwon defeated Carreño Bustae 2-1 (3-6 6-4 6-4) in the men’s singles round of 16 at the Men’s Professional Tennis (ATP) Tour Adelaide International 2nd Round (total prize money: $642,735) held in Adelaide, Australia on the 11th. With a come-from-behind victory, they advanced to the quarterfinals.

Carreño Busta reached the semifinals twice at the US Open singles and reached the quarterfinals twice at the French Open singles. He won a total of seven singles titles on the tour.

Kwon Soon-woo defeated a player in the top 10 at a tour event for the first time. Last year, he defeated Felix Oze Aliasim (Canada), who was ranked 13th at the time, but it was at the Davis Cup stage, not a tour event, but a national competition. The highest ranking players defeated by Kwon Soon-woo in the singles of the previous tour were Luca Fuyu (France) in 2019 and Dusan Rayovic (Serbia) in 2020, and both players’ world rankings at the time were 24th.스포츠토토

Kwon Soon-woo made it to the finals after going through the 1st and 2nd rounds of the preliminaries at the 1st round of the Adelaide International last week, but was eliminated in the 1st round. He defeated Tomas Machachi (115th, Czech Republic) in the first round of the 2nd tournament, and went on the rise after defeating Carreño Busta in the round of 16.

Kwon Soon-woo’s opponent in the quarterfinals is Michael Emmer (77th, Sweden). Kwon Soon-woo faced Emer in the round of 16 of the first round of the Adelaide International last year and lost 0-2.

Kwon Soon-woo will participate in the first major tournament of the season, the Australian Open, which opens in Melbourne, Australia on the 16th after the tournament.
