Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min expressed his position that he “will faithfully respond to the impeachment adjudication of the Constitutional Court” regarding the passage of the National Assembly’s impeachment prosecution today (8th).
Minister Lee said in a statement this afternoon, “I am very sorry to have caused concern to the people due to the National Assembly’s decision to impeach me today.”

At the plenary session this afternoon, the National Assembly passed the motion for impeachment of Minister Lee through an anonymous vote, with 179 votes in favor, 109 against, and 5 invalid votes out of a total of 293 votes, and passed it to the Constitutional Court.
It is the first time in the 1975 constitutional history that an impeachment prosecution has been made against a member of the State Council.
