The Korea Basketball Association (KBA) announced the 24-man preliminary roster and 16-man strengthening roster for the men’s national basketball team in preparation for the Feb. 23-23 FIBA Olympic Qualifiers and the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games.
The 16-man roster includes Heo Hoon and Song Kyo-chang (Sangsung), Ra Gun-ah and Lee Seung-hyun (KCC). Veterans Kim Sun-hyung and Oh Se-geun (SK) also returned to the national team. Kim played beyond their years in the KBL last season, earning regular season MVP and playoff MVP honors, respectively.
Younger players like Ha Yoon-ki (KT), Lee Jung-hyun (Day One), and Lee Woo-seok (Hyundai Mobis) also made the team. Lee Jung-hyun, who was also selected for the Chengdu Summer Universiade in late June, will join the senior squad after the tournament.
The squad for the Olympic Pre-Qualifiers and Asian Games will convene at the Jincheon Athletes’ Village on Wednesday, June 21. The final roster for each tournament will be finalized after the strengthening training and an exhibition match against Japan.
