Jeju has been on a roll lately, with five wins and a draw in their last six K League 1 matches. Although their winning streak was snapped in the last round, they are in good form and sit third in the league.

Before the game, Jeju head coach Nam Ki-il said, “I don’t think it’s important to talk about winning, but it’s important to continue the good momentum. Even though our winning streak was broken, the atmosphere is good. We haven’t won many games at home, and we really want to win today,” he said.

As if to show his intention to win, Nam started his main squad of Yuri Jonatan, Lee Chang-min, Lee Ju-yong, Kim Bong-soo, and Jung Woon. Ahn Hyun-beom, Seo Jin-soo, Hayes, and Lim Chae-min were also on the bench to prepare for any contingencies.

As Nam had hoped, Jeju had an easy time of it. They took the lead in the first 16 minutes of the game after taking control and attacking from the start. Jonathan Ling, who returned from injury to start, sent a pass from the left side of the penalty box to Lee Ki-hyuk, who connected with a simple shot that rattled the bottom corner of the net.

After taking the lead, Jeju continued to press forward and made it 2-0 in the 28th minute. Kim Seung-seop fired a powerful shot from the left side of the box that deflected off goalkeeper Jeong Jung-san’s leg and into the back of the net.

In the second half, Jeju’s defensive concentration faltered and they conceded back-to-back goals early on. In the eighth minute of the second half, Leandro’s pass from the right was collected by Masa, who rattled the net with a powerful shot. Three minutes later, Leandro finished off Massa’s penetrating pass. Unlike the first half, Jeju’s defense was lax and they quickly conceded the equalizer.

With the game in jeopardy, Jeju rallied. In the 15th minute of the second half, Yuri Jonatan received a pass from Lee Ju-yong and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot, sending the ball just over the keeper’s height and into the net.

Daejeon’s counterattack was no slouch either. In the 20th minute of the second half, Byun Jun-soo scored a powerful header off a corner kick from the left side to tie the game again.

In an unexpected flurry, Jeju regained the lead. In the 28th minute, a quick passing play led to a quick entry into the box, and Lee Ju-yong finally connected with a ground ball pass. Min Jun-young intercepted the pass and tried to clear it away, but the ball settled and went into the goal.

There were no more goals after that. Daejeon tried to attack, but they were physically exhausted, and Jeju held on to their one-goal lead to win the match.
